The reviewing process
Manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to the following review procedure:
An initial review by the editorial panel in terms of general suitability for the journal.
Selected articles are then subject to a double blind review process.
Articles are then accepted, revised or rejected on the basis of the recommendations of reviewers. Revised articles are reviewed by the editors, although in some cases they may be referred back to the original reviewer.
Copyright
In accordance with copyright law, the manuscript must not duplicate substantial portions of previously published material. Permission to reproduce copyright material must be obtained by the authors before submission and any acknowledgments should be included in the submission. Acknowledgment of source and copyright should be given in cases where photographs, data and media are reproduced.
Editorial policy is the responsibility of the Editorial Panel. Authors' opinions should be regarded as their own. Articles must be previously unpublished.
Structure/Format of the article
Title
The title should be a maximum of 15 words.
Author(s) and Author(s) affiliation
The following format is required for author name(s): first name, extra initials and last name. Add after each name of an author the e-mail address (if available) and the contact address. The title, author(s), affiliation(s), and address(es) should be on a separate cover page.
All correspondence will be addressed to the first named author, unless otherwise instructed.
Abstract
Contributions should be preceded by an abstract of 100-150 words in English.
Keywords
Select and list up to six keywords of the article in English.
List of headings
Authors should provide a list of headings which will help to build hyperlinks to the specific subsections of your article. We recommend only one level of headings. The list of headings should not be numbered.
Text Requirements
Format and style: Typescripts will be word processed and should be submitted in 12 point Times New Roman font using double-spacing, with any original illustrations. This format must be used throughout, including for notes and references cited. Please number the pages.
Tables, Illustrations and Maps
These should be in GIF, PNG or JPEG format. Authors will clearly indicate location of tables, illustrations and maps in the text. These will not be included in the text but sent as separate attachments. For a high quality of prints a good resolution of illustrations is required without overcoming the following dimensions: L=155 mm, H=225 mm, or L=440 pixels, H= 640 pixels
All tables, maps, diagrams and photographs should be titled at the top. They will also be designated as Table, Figure, Map, Photograph, Diagram, numbered and cited consecutively in the text.
Length
We recommend an article size between 4000 and 6000 words. This includes tables, illustrations, references, etc.
References
References should adopt the Harvard referencing system.
For example:
Journals
Edwards M., (1991), „Fragmentation dans le contexte urbain”, Architecture et comportement, vol.7. nr.4, p.339-348.
Excerpts from multiple authored books
Parr, H (2001), „Negotiating different ethnographic contexts and building geographical knowledge: empirical examples from mental health research”, in M. Limb and C. Dwyer (eds) Qualitative Methodologies for Geographers : Issues and Debates, London, Arnold, 181-195.
Books
Cloke P., Cook I., (2007), (eds.), Practising Human Geography, London, Sage Publications.
Electronic sources
Sullivan D. M (2007), „Reassessing Gentrification: Measuring Residents’ Opinions Using Survey Data”, Urban Affairs Review, nr. 42, 23 may 2008, 11 p., (http://uar.sagepub.com).
Additional information
Abbreviations can be used within the text according to internationally accepted conventions.
Notations should conform to international usage.
Footnotes should not be used.
Endnotes should be numbered consecutively within the text and listed after the references.
It will be assumed that the authors will keep an exact copy of the article submitted.
At the end of article (after the references), authors should include, on a separate page, a list of any figures and tables cited within the text. This list should contain the full caption of each figure and table.
Issues of language
To reduce and keep the process of peer reviewing straightforward the international authors are responsible to submit article manuscripts in good quality English. Romanian authors can submit article manuscripts in Romanian. When Romanian authors choose to submit article manuscripts in English, a Romanian version of it is also required.
Note:
1. Subsequently to the peer reviewing process, selected article manuscripts to be published will be sent for professional translation and editing.
2. Human Geographies - Journal of Studies and Research in Human Geography is an open access journal.
Further information
Please do not hesitate to contact any of the members of the editorial team for additional guidance on any matters not specifically addressed in the above listed instructions and examples.
Submission of contributions
For further issues, contributions should be sent electronically by email to Mirela Nae
editor@humangeographies.org.ro
The article will then be forwarded to the editorial team.
Authors are asked to attach their file(s) to their e-mail message. Please, send attached files as pre 2007 MS WORD files.
Thank you for your interest.
